What is a Lexical Relationship
The topic discussed in the last video was Lexical Relationships.
So, What is a Lexical Relationship?
Lexical relationships are the connections between the meanings of words in a language. They are important for understanding how words work together and are used to analyze word meanings in sentences.
Here are some types of lexical relationships:
1. Synonymy
2. Antonymy
3. Hyponymy
(a) Hyponym
(b) Hypernym
4. Homonymy
5. Metonymy
6. Holonymy
The task presented in the video(vaiya gave us) is to find all the lexical relationships around the central entity of my website. Here it is:
Main Entity = Soundproofing
Synonymy = Acoustic insulation
Antonymy = Uninsulated
Hyponym = Acoustic mineral wool and acoustic foam panels are hyponyms of soundproofing.
Hypernym = Soundproofing is the hypernym of acoustic mineral wool and acoustic foam panels.
Homonymy = It was difficult to find one for my central entity, but I understand the concept. For example, watch (clock) and watch (see).
Metonymy = I use spray foam to insulate this place. Here, "insulate" is a metonym for soundproofing.
Holonymy = Here "Soundproofing" is holonym for "spray foam".
